Money: 10 ways to save money on your wedding

Wedding costs are out of control, and it is something you don't realize until the planning begins... so what can you do to save a few buckeroos? QuickEasyFit.com has 10 suggestions -- take them for what they're worth:

  1. Use seasonal flowers - off season flowers are expensive
  2. Don't put flowers on every table
  3. Skip the band; hire a dj
  4. Hire someone to video the ceremony only
  5. Plan it nearby where friends and family can help
  6. Cut back on the wedding favors
  7. Bring your own wine
  8. Reduce or remove the cake
  9. Revise the menu to only include filling one-bite snacks, or opt for a brunch buffet rather than a luncheon
  10. Make a list of what's important - then cut back on everything else

TV is actually good for the brain! Take THAT, mom!

Researchers tell us that our brain has limited powers to tackle difficult tasks. Willpower and self-control will run out, which will leave us running on mental fumes. So what do you do to restore that power? TV! Yes, watching a TV rerun "is like slipping on a pair of sweatpants for the mind." TV reruns require very little energy to absorb. You don't have to use any effort to control what you are thinking, saying, or doing. This activity restores your mental energy. But! And this is a big but... it has to be a rerun. In other words, something familiar. Watching just any TV show didn't have the same effect.

Facebook/Phones: So what is it for you? When you want to put your brain on pause, what do you watch?
