joke of the day
Bernie was invited to his friend's home for dinner. Morris, the host, preceded every request to his wife by endearing terms, calling her Honey, My Love, Darling, Sweetheart, Pumpkin, etc.
Bernie looked at Morris and remarked, "That is really nice, that after all these years that you have been married, you keep calling your wife those pet names."
Morris hung his head and whispered," To tell the truth, I forgot her name three years ago."
Men, Women, Marriage and Booze
If you see a woman at a grocery store buying a few bottles of wine, she's probably married. A new study has discovered that once married, men drink less, and women drink more.
Researchers found that married women drink much more than single women, but married men drink less than their bachelor friends.
Why? Because women help keep their man's drinking habits under control, but even with that, men still continue to be a bad influence on their wives. (Yes, of course it's our fault)
What happens when women divorce? Of course that stress leads to more drinking, right? Nope. Their alcohol intake falls to before-marriage levels.
Money Causes Fights? No Way!
The only thing surprising about this survey result is that it seems too low. It turns out that over half (55%) of engaged couples argue over money issues while trying to plan a wedding. Of those that fight, the main reason seems to be the lack of funds for the type of wedding they would like.
Another hot button issue during the wedding planning process involves family. Close to a quarter of couples fought because their parents were giving them money for the wedding and then thought that gave them license to help plan, too.
Phones/Facebook: What was your family or fiance's craziest wedding request? Were you able to put your foot down, or did that crazy request end up in the wedding?
5 Ways for Parents to Stop Worrying So Much
Yes, you want the best for your child. You're worried they won't be smart enough, liked enough, or even happy enough (trust me, I'm there!). Here are five tips to prevent that anxiety from leading into the
depression
- Trust the facts. Look at what's actually occurring and you'll find that the worried feeling you have is irrational
- Stop over-identifying with your kids. If your child gets into an argument with another kid, it doesn't mean you're a bad mother. Stop personalizing events that aren't your fault. You are not your child and your child is not you
- Think positively. Something negative happened once. It doesn't mean it's going to happen again. Learn from the mistakes and grow intellectually. Think positively about how the day will turn out, and it probably will.
- Stop blowing things out of proportion. This happens when you exaggerate the importance of your child's errors. Focus more on their strengths.
- Keep an open mind. Stop seeing things in black and white. It's unrealistic. Look around the room you're in right now. Is it perfectly clean? Is everything in it's proper place? Absolutes do not exist in this universe.
