Another Blast From the Past

When I was a hungry little Jr. broadcaster looking for my first job, I always thought a sign of success was working with these big elephant microphones... You know you made it when the mic was bigger than your head!

Have a great show!

You Go, Dog!

Awesome story of why dogs are better than cats.

A 17-year-old girl in St. Petersburg, Florida was saved from being attacked by a sex predator thanks to a 38-pound dog. The girl was volunteering at St. Petersburg's Friends of Stray animal shelter when she took the dog for a walk. When she walked a path behind the building, a registered sexual predator named Michael Bacon grabbed her hair and pinned her to the ground. That's when Mabeline the dog began barking non-stop, scaring the guy away.

Bacon has been arrested and the teenager is calling the dog a "hero." The dog's award was a slice of bacon and a new home. Source

5 Surprising Ways You Can Be Scammed

Have you ever been flat-out scammed? Not fun, right? It can happen again! Here are 5 sly ways you can be duped:

ATM Skimming - A device is attached to an ATM that captures information about your account when you swipe your card. Within minutes a criminal has your bank account info and PIN.

2 Bogus pizza leaflets - If you find a pizza leaflet stuck on your windshield, be wary. Criminals use this technique to get you to call and place an order with your credit card. This scam works well on tourists visiting new towns.

Phishing - An email is sent warning you that your personal information may be compromised. All you have to do is click a link to verify your identity. The identity they want to confirm is your credit card information on their fake site. Don't ever click a link in an email asking for personal information

Stranded Facebook friends - You supposedly get an email from one of your friends needing money for a flight home. Call your friend -- they're most likely at home while their account is being hacked.

Work-at-home schemes - Don't be a sucker and fall for the envelope-stuffing scam. It works like this -- you pay money to join an organization, and are promised money for every envelope you stuff. But it turns out, all you're doing is stuffing envelopes with flyers that recruit other people to stuff envelopes. Indication that a work-at-home scam is a scam: The pay is too good to be true, or payment is required to begin work.

How Stop Your Shopping Addiction

Did you know that 5% of Americans are addicted to shopping? 5% of us suffer from compulsive shopping and even more struggle with lesser forms of overspending.

Here's how you know if you're in trouble. 3 indications:

1 You have the inability to stop yourself from making purchases
2 You fight with loved ones over expenditures
3 You lye about shopping

Treatment through therapy is usually what's needed, and it take about six-months to a year to get control over yourself.

Celebrities Charge By the Hour

How much would you pay to speak to a celebrity? Ok, not a real celebrity, but a d-lister like Lindsay Lohan's parents. If you would pay close to $20 a minute, then I have a website for you! Dial-A-Star.com gives you the opportunity to play by the minute to speak to someone famous, in whatever way you define that word.

Here's what they charge:
  • Michael Lohan - $18/minute
  • Dina Lohan - $25/minute
  • Nadya "Octomom" Suleman - $12/minute
  • Telia Tequila - $20/minute
  • Rachel Uchitel (from the Tiger Woods drama) - $16/minute
  • Danielle Staub - $18/minute
  • Kate Major - $10/minute

Nobody really calls, do they? Do people REALLY pay this much money to talk to "so-called" celebrities? Um...yes. Yes, they do. Real Housewife Danielle Staub made $7-grand since the website launched just a week ago. Michael Lohan raked in $3500 in just a week.

Founder Gina Rodriguez says her own phone has been ringing off the hook with other celebrities who want to sign up. Her next website will give you the opportunity to dial a music star or athlete.

Joke of the Day

Early one morning, a mother went in to wake up her son. "Wake up, son. It's time to go to school!"

"But why, Mom? I don't want to go."

"Give me two reasons why you don't want to go."

Well, the kids hate me for one, and the teachers hate me, too!"

"Oh, that's no reason not to go to school. Come on now and get ready."

"Give me two reasons why I should go to school."

"Well, for one, you're 52 years old. And for another, you're the Principal!"
