Worth a Mention
Did you hear about the 14 year old that can recite any word BACKWARDS within seconds? She's not only an Internet sensation, but she has brain experts scratching their heads. They really can't figure out how she does it, only to call her talent "extremely rare." Alyssa Kramer of Poteau, Oklahoma, says she's had the talent as far back as she can remember. She claims to have a photographic memory which allows her to visualize a word, flip it around, and read it backwards. Video here: So the question is ... what can she do with this talent? Any ideas?
* Start her own country with their very own language, perhaps?
* Work for the devil to read secret messages into music? (anyone older than 45 will get that)
* Become official translator for Ozzy Osbourne?
* Any other possibilities?

If you smoke marijuana on a regular basis, I'm going to tell you something, but you probably won't remember it. Smoking marijuana over a number of years can affect your short-term memory. Telephone and names enter one ear and out the other. Why? Because the psychoactive drug in marijuana weakens the connections between neurons in the hippocampus, crucial for memory formation. Now, repeat what I just told you. Scientists will use this information to try and create drugs, like painkillers, that have the same therapeutic affect, but with fewer side-effects. Source
The world's worst travellers are (drum roll, please) Americans! Whos says? Americans do! But it's not just us, a new LivingSocial survey found Canadians and Australians agree that America's are pretty tacky tourists. We get around, too, the study showed that 78% of us have visited at least one foreign country, and while there, most likely "lifted" something from the hotel. Four in 10 admit to "accidentally" packing or intentionally stealing items from hotels. Towels are the #1 thing we'll bring home. Source
Oh joy! The National Sleep Foundation polled 11-hundred pilots, truck drivers, train engineers and conductors, and found 1 out of every 10 admit they're really, really tired while working. 11% fly, drive, or chug down the track while sleepy, compared to 7% of non-transportation workers. Are they worried about it? Yep -- One in four train operators and airline pilots say their job performance suffers because of their fatigue at least once a week. Wouldn't you love to know which day of the week to stay home? Source
Australian scientists think they have discovered the oldest living thing on earth (insert Larry King/ joke here...). It's seagrass! Samples of the giant seagrass from 40 underwater meadows between Cyprus and Spain are somewhere between 12,000 and 200-thousand years old. What's the secret? The lack of sex! The plants simply clone themselves over time. Source
5 Things Women Are Good At (but They Don't Even Know It)
More stereotypes crushed by research! Here's where women thump men:
Parking: Researchers observed 2500 hundred drivers in 700 parking spots, and found women outscored men in 6 out of 7 categories of parking. But when asked, only one-fifth thought they were better parkers than men.
Handling job interview stress: Women deal with interview stress better because they're more likely than men to turn to friends and family for support, and prepare more thoroughly for the interview than men. Men tend to ignore their anxiety.
Investing: Women are better investors than men because they don't take as many foolish risks.
Tasting beer: Not only do women have a better sense of smell, but they have more-sensitive taste buds meaning they're better beer critics.
Staying healthy: The eating healthier thing is a no-brainer. Women tend to opt for more fruits and veggies than men, but they also have a secret women that men don't have...estrogen. Estrogen boosts the immune system leading to a stronger natural immune system.

Joke of the Day
Two man playing golf were held up by two women playing in front of them. One man said: "I'll walk up to them and tell them to hurry up." When he returned he said: "I have a problem, one of the women is my wife and the other one is my mistress." The second man said: "I'll walk up to them and hurry them up." He came back and said: " We both have the same problem.”
