radio showprep: facebook stresses us out, 3 words that destroy relationships, and what makes you instantly unattractive at dinner

Hey guys!

Here's the deal -- my son is starting kindergarten today so I'm taking the day off to drive him to school and pick him up... I already know I'm going to be an emotional wreck. I know it's only kindergarten, but I feel like it was only yesterday when I strapped him in his car seat at the hospital for the nervous trip home.

So anyway, I have a few things ready for you below, and I'll be back in full tomorrow. Have a great show.

Social Media Stresses Us Out!

If Twitter and Facebook disappeared tomorrow, would you jump off a cliff, or would life be better? If you believe this survey, life would get better. Half of the participants in a small study admitted that social networking has made their lives worse. It stresses us out! Two-thirds claim they find it difficult to relax or sleep after hanging out on Facebook, and more say they feel 'weird' or 'uncomfortable' when they're cut off from accessing Facebook or email.

Facebook/Twitter: Has Facebook helped or hurt your life?

Phoner Idea

Has something ever happened TO you, or IN FRONT of you where you think, "I thought this only happened in movies?"

Food and Love

Today.com and Match.com got together to investigate the correlations between eating and dating. The results are pretty interesting

  • 40% of ladies would choose their favorite food over sex
  • 30% of singles would never date a vegetarian
  • 66% of us consider picky eaters a major turn off
  • 32% of singles say another major turn off is dating someone with no knowledge of fine food (by fine food they mean Chik fil a, right?)
  • 70% of women wouldn't like it if a man drank more than them (strange)
  • 23% don't like their date to drink at all
  • 62% would be peeved if their date wanted to split the check (no class)
  • 82% think it's a turn off if their date flirted with the waitress (that's it...82%?)

Facebook/Phones: So what are you food and people turn-offs? Personally, I can only be around someone that chews with their mouth wide open once.

The 3 Little Words that Destroy Relationships

YourTango.com maps out the danger words that are relationship killers...

1. But: The word but, at the beginning or in the middle of the sentence, deletes whatever came before it. It's like the backspace key. It's a defensive tactic. Instead of 'but,' use 'and' or 'and, at the same time.'

2. Not: Not is a downer. The more the word is used, the more negative you sound. Compare sentences: "I'm not going with you," to "I'm staying home today." Which sounds better? Instead of saying what isn't, say what is.

3. You: Using 'you' as the first word in a sentence is never a good idea. It sounds bossy and it pushes people away. Instead, use 'I' statements, as in sentences that start with an 'I' instead of a 'you'. YOU got it?

Joke of the Day

A man comes home from a night of drinking with the boys. As he falls through the doorway of his house, his wife snaps at him, “what’s the big idea coming home half drunk?”

The man replies, “I’m sorry, honey. I ran out of money.”

Birthdays
