Waiter Refuses Wine to Pregnant Woman

Interesting debate - if you were a waiter, and a pregnant customer asked for a glass of wine, would you serve it to them?

"“Saturday night my friend, who is visiting from Boston, and I went out to eat. When the server approached the table she wouldn’t look at me. My friend ordered a glass of wine and before the server walked off, I said I would like one as well. She said she can’t serve me. I said, ” my OB says a glass of wine in moderation is ok.” She replied that she has heard that before and still refused to serve me. I was flabbergasted, embarrassed and downright p*ssed. I ate my meal with my friend and decided not to make a scene. When I got home that night I looked up the law. Essentially she violated my civil rights, and discriminated against me"

Facebook/Phones: My wife, a former waitress, was forced to serve a pregnant woman a beer. She still feels horrible about it to this day... but then again, some doctors are just fine with the idea of a glass of wine during the final months of pregnancy. Did this waiter do the right thing?

I think that I would agree with the waiter. I wouldn’t serve a pregnant woman a glass of wine. I completly abstained for both my pregnanicies and I wouldn’t feel comfortable with contributing to that risk for someone else. I can just imagine in such a litigious society that if something was wrong with her baby, she would sue the restaurant for serving her alcohol.

I can see how she was annoyed bc its her choice, but its not her establishment. She should just let it go and have a glass at home if she so chooses.

Jet Turns Into a "Vomitorium"

Quick: What was your worst flight ever? Bet it can't beat this...

A JetBlue flight from Vegas to New York experienced hydraulic system failure which left the aircraft bouncing and careening through the air. Once the pilot declared an emergency, the aircraft had to burn off enough fuel before making an emergency landing. That took FOUR HOURS! And because the flight was so unstable, many passengers started getting sick. One passenger even tweeted:

"The plane turned into a vomitorium. For five hours. And, after all that, I'm still in Vegas."

Other passengers were thankful for the well trained flight crew that kept everyone relatively calm. The flight landed and then had to be towed to the gate because the front wheels had stopped working.

Women like Pinterest; men like Reddit.

The study found that men prefer social network sites where they can find stuff, and women prefer sites that allow them to connect with their friends. That's why women like Facebook, MySpace and Twitter, and men like Digg, YouTube, and del.icio.us.

Men also like music based sites like Soundcloud and Last.fm, while women like sites where they can share pictures, like Instagram.
