Hope you had a great weekend!

We finally got over the NC State Fair where my son NOT ONLY won this amazing stuffed thing -- but a LIVE goldfish, as well! Greatest prize ever as a kid. And, bonus, it's still alive this morning! I think... maybe I'll run upstairs and check....

Today is Share a Pop-Tart Day and National Bologna Day -- and you thought Christmas was special!

The Bickering Won't Change

There's an interesting study out of Ohio State that discovered couples who argue and fight in the beginning, will continue to argue and fight throughout their marriage. On the flip side, couples that get along well in the beginning, will most likely stay that way. Here's the interesting part -- "fighting" doesn't equal "unhappy." In fact, as one of the researchers put it, "there is a lot of stability in conflict. Bottom line: "If you're finding it difficult to live with the level of conflict before you get married, you probably shouldn't get married." Check out the study including how they classified married couples into four groups here

Number of the Day

The price the United States pays for excessive alcohol consumption. It breaks down this way:
  • Three-quarters to lost productivity
  • 11% to health care expenses
  • 9% to criminal justice costs
  • 8% to other effects like those related to fetal alcohol syndrome

Pretty sure the fan says "You're amazing, you're amazing" but after she sings it should be "Don't make me sing, don't make me sing!"

Joke of the Day

NASA was interviewing professionals to be sent to Mars. Only one could go, but with one catch: He couldn't return to earth.

The first applicant, an engineer, was asked how much he wanted to be paid for going. "One million" he answered, "because I want to donate it to M.I.T."

The next applicant, a doctor, was asked the same question. He asked for $2 million. "I want to give a million to my family," he explained, "and leave the other million for the advancement of medical research."

The last applicant was a lawyer. When asked how much money he wanted, he whispered in the interviewer's ear: "Three million dollars."

"Why so much more than the others?" the interviewer asked.

The lawyer replied, "If you give me three million, I'll give you one million, I'll keep one million and we'll send the engineer."

Surf This

Holidays are sneaking up on us, which means you'll get pelted with questions about what your kids want, or what you want. I found a cool site called Giftery.me that let's you share those gift ideas with your friends and family. This year, get what you actually want, and not what you'll end up taking back!
