12.03.10  The Weekend!

Lots to celebrate this weekend including Alka-Seltzer Day when the Dr. Miles Medical Company of Elkhart, Indiana brought us the plop-plop-fizz-fizz on this day in 1931.

Today is also Let's Hug Day... so C'MERE!  Tomorrow is Santa's List Day, so what do you want for Christmas?  Train set?  Tomorrow is also Cracker Jack Day.  Sunday is Bathtub Party Day, National Swap A Christmas Cookie Recipe Day, and Walt Disney Day which remembers Walt's birth on this day in 1901.

Your Name Tells It All!!!
No wonder Christina Aguilera got a divorce!  According to Time magazine, a French dating service called SmartDate found women whose first names end with "a" have more than double the 4.4 sexual partners an average woman has in her lifetime.

Here's what they found in their survey:
  • Laura's had 9.7 partners
  • Tania's had 9.6
  • Lola's had 9.5.

On the other hand:
  • Therese's had 1.1 partners
  • Francoise averaged 1.2
  • Martine had 1.3

So now we know all we need to know about you....Jessica...and you, too, Lisa!  article

"Yall can kiss my lily white southern Louisiana a--!"  That's Britney Spears to Star magazine, Radar Online and the guy she was once  married to for 55-hours, Jason Alexander.  All three pushed a story that Spears had been abused by her current boyfriend, Jason Trawick.  Something she says is completely false.

On a brighter note for Britney, she announced yesterday that she's working on a brand new album to be released in March.

Aretha Franklin is doing just fine this morning after receiving a mystery surgery yesterday.  Whatever it was, it was "highly successful," according to Franklin.

The mystery has been solved.  The reason Johnny Depp won't marry his girlfriend of 12-years is...because...he doesn't want to ruin her last name.  "She's got such a good last name," he told Extra.  On the other hand, he said if she wants to get hitched, he'll get hitched.

Christina Aguilera is coming clean about her decision to divorce Jordan Bratman.  She says things were just too "unhealthy and unhappy," and she had to end it.  She says she felt torn about splitting the family up," but if you're "unhappy in your marriage, your children are the ones to suffer."  Rumor has it she's dating Matthew Rutler, a guy she met on the set of her new movie Burlesque.

The new flick opening this weekend is "The Warrior's Way," an action/adventure starring Geoffrey Rush (R).  Preview

Answer

The Mummy!  Brendan has had a bit of bad luck lately, including the horrible flick "Furry Vengeance," and a play called "Elling" that closed on Broadway last week after only 9 shows.  Yikes.

Gotta See This

Dog in shoes.  Hilarious or sad?

Did You Know

...that parents are watching way too much TV.  According to a parenting website called BabyCenter, new parents are using TV shows to name their babies.  In fact, on the recently released list of the Top-100 baby names for 2010, the names "Finn" and "Quinn" are on the rise (thank you "Glee), along with "Betty" (thank you "Mad Men"), and of course Team "Jacob" (hello "Twilight").  Be honest...did you name your baby after a fictional TV or movie character?

Who Said It?

"I don't know what I can do about the aging...It's like those flowers that wilt in front of you in time-lapse films...but what can I possibly do? Look like a lunatic?"
-45 year old Sarah Jessica Parker to Elle magazine

Joke of the Day

Answering the phone, the priest was surprised to hear the caller introduce herself as an IRS auditor.

“But we do not pay taxes,” the priest said. “It isn’t you, Father, it’s one of your parishioner,
Sean McCullough. He indicates on his tax return that he gave a donation of

$15,000 to the church last year. Is this, in fact, the truth?”

The priest smiled broadly. “The check hasn’t arrived yet, but I’m sure I’ll have it when I remind dear Sean.”
