Here's a weird one --- If grandma wanted you to euthanize her healthy dog so it could be buried with her...would you do it?

This sounds crazy, but it's happening.  Recently a two-year old Yorkshire terrier named Tom Tom was put to sleep at the request of its owner who passed.  The owner wanted the dog to be buried with him.  

MSNBC found examples everywhere of owners wanting to take life's final steps with their pets. 

-- A grandma that sat her family down and demanded her best friend go to the grave with her thankfully the dog died before granny
-- An 84-year old who asked her daughter to put her cat down after she died because the cat was "very picky."  The daughter couldn't do it...until she discovered the cat was, indeed, very picky.  It didn't get along with her cats and eventually took one last trip to the vet.

The issue is a tough one -- not only for loved ones who are following the wishes of the deceased, but for the vets who are sometimes putting down healthy pets.  Some won't do it.

The National Retail Foundation found a few interesting trends as we gear up for another holiday season.  They found, for one, that the economy continues to affect shoppers, but we will spend more this year than last.  Here are a few other holiday trends for 2010:

  • Americans aren’t ready to declare an end to the recession.

  • Fundamentals are out and fun is in. Gift cards are the most requested gift, but more people are asking for jewelry this year than last.  

  • It’s all about value.  Unlike 2009 and 2008, price is not the only factor shoppers will consider when making buying decisions. Shoppers are looking at the big picture.  Is the product worth the extra money?  Will it really save me time?  

  • It’s all about me, again. The number of people who will take advantage of holiday sales to make nongift purchases for themselves is up to 57 percent this year from 53 percent last year

  • The biggest spenders are just one click away. Online shoppers have much deeper pockets this year

  • Can you hear me now? Retailers are ramping up their mobile apps and websites and understanding that iPhones and Droids are all the rage. More than one-fourth of Americans who have a smart phone will use their mobile device to shop for gifts

Johnny Depp covers Vanity Fair to promote "The Tourist," co-starring Angelina Jolie, and said he wasn't sure what he'd get with Angelina.   Would she have a personality?  A sense of humor?  Turns out, she had it all.  "I was so pleased to find that she is incredibly normal, and has a wonderfully kind of dark, perverse sense of humor."  

Johnny Depp also said becoming an actor was the furthest thing from his mind when he was in his 20's.  "I had no desire, no interest, really in it all," he said.  "I was a musician and I was a guitarist and that's what I wanted to do."  Read it here

The divorce train continues to roll through Hollywood.  This time it's Jennifer Jason Leigh and her hubby of 5-years, Noah Baumbach.  The Daily Mail reports she filed papers last week, just 7-months after giving birth to their first child.  

Taylor Lautner cleared a major relationship hurdle -- he met his girlfriends father.  It's even more of a hurdle when your girlfriend's father is Phil Collins.  Reports say that things went well and Taylor "impressed" Lilly's dad.  Check out some photos of Phil and his little girl.  

Carnie Wilson lost her endorsement deal with Fresh Diet after it became clear she was actually GAINING weight while on the diet.  A spokesperson for Fresh Diet said Wilson was fired after losing only 19 pounds and then gaining it all back (plus some) after she launched her own cheesecake company.

Talk show host Nate Berkus was rushed to the hospital following his "Today Show" appearance.  He was diagnosed with appendicitis and was expected to receive surgery.  His rep said that nobody realized the pain he was in during the interview yesterday.  

In case you didn't hear, CBS fired their Early Show crew.  Harry Smith, Maggie Rodriguez and Dave Price are out.  Look for the weekend crew to take over in January.  

Radar Online reports that producers for "Dancing With the Stars" are going after a big catch for next season -- Lindsay Lohan.  "The producers were concerned about her erratic behavior, but they are taking another look at asking her to come on for the next season because she is doing so well at her sober living facility," the source said. "The producers are aware that she would be available because she isn't going to be filming 'Inferno.'"
