Worst ways your old coach made you "pay"....
A high school softball coach in South Lake Tahoe, CA, is in a great deal of trouble this morning. It seems she made 8 players who struck out during a game drink soda from a team member's shoe. The incident happened hours after the game at a slumber party on May 1st. The superintendent realizes it "was meant as a joke," but said it will be addressed during Anneliese Neitling's post-season evaluation. Is this really the worst hazing ever to come out of high-school sports? Go ahead...say it... mmmmmm, Mountain Shoe!
Okay then...can we name a few other things that do more harm than good?
Get this -- it turns out the thing that may save your life, is the thing that could kill you -- the airbag in your car! A new study by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety found the newest version of airbags could be increasing the likelihood of death for front passenger drivers. Why? Because we all wear seat belts now! 80% of us wear safety belts, and the airbags were created when less drivers buckled up. They say the newest airbags seem to help unbelted drivers more than belted ones. But before you unclick this morning, the vice president of the insurance institute says:
“The study does not suggest that people should turn off their air bags nor does it suggest that people should unbuckle their seat belts. It says that government regulations and air bag designers could do a better job of protecting belted drivers.”
Thought starters: Things that possibly do more harm than good:
-Drugs to treat ADD? (if you're daring this morning!)
-The president? (this one or the last)
-Environmentally friendly toilets that use less water per flush (but require three times the flushes)
-Blackberries and smartphones delivering email 24/7 (and have made us into work-a-holics)

GADGET OF THE DAY
Something doesn't seem right about this... it's a wall mounted grill with a protective shield allowing you to fold the grill into the wall. I think the most important component is the shield. It better be tough. Cool idea, though. More details hereGOTTA SEE THIS

DID YOU KNOW
"Winning a mate used to depend only on physical prowess and men with the strongest jawline and thickest skulls were better able to survive onslaughts from love rivals...That meant that over time all men developed thicker bones in the jaws, around the eyes and on the forehead than women."
(These days it's less about thick skulls and more about thick wallets!)
QUOTE OF THE DAY
"You go through the works, and then you're like this perfectly prepared sausage…no one ever sees what goes in."

JOKE OF THE DAY
A farmer was helping one of his cows give birth when he noticed his 4-year-old son standing wide-eyed at the fence, soaking in the whole event. The man thought, "Great... he's 4 and I'm gonna have to start explaining the birds and bees. No need to jump the gun -- I'll just let him ask and I'll answer."
After everything was over, the man walked over to his son and said: "Well, son, do you have any questions?"
"Just one," gasped the still wide-eyed lad: "How fast was that calf going when he hit that cow?"
