joke of the day

A guy goes to a girl's house for the first time, and she shows him into the living room. She excuses herself to go to the kitchen to make them a few drinks, and as he's standing there alone, he notices a cute little vase on the mantel.

He picks it up, and as he's looking at it, she walks back in. He says

"What's this?"

She says, "Oh, my father's ashes are in there."

He goes, "Geez...oooh....I..."

She says, "Yeah, he's too lazy to go to the kitchen to get an ashtray."

Are You a Selfish Pig?

Many people don't realize they're selfish because, well, they're selfish and they operate inside a bubble of me-first thoughts. That may be you! Let's find out. Here are 6 ways to know if you're a selfish person.

1 You like being in control and find it difficult to compromise.
2 Giving and sharing do not come easily to you.
3 Putting your partner's needs first — before your own — is very difficult.
4 You hear constructive criticism as personal attacks.
5 You become moody when others have the spotlight.
6 Forgiving others is difficult

YourTango.com says selfishness is a learned behavior and can be changed. They say to shift your focus from "me first" to "we first."

Have a Drink

Ladies, if you have a lot on your plate today, find a way, any way, to relax. A new study found anxious women find it harder to complete even the most basic tasks without making mistakes. And the more difficult the tasks became, the more they would doubt themselves, leaving more room for errors.

Researchers also discovered (to no surprise of any husband) that women are more prone to be mentally wound up than men, making it longer for them to complete tasks.

Really?

What would you give up for a little flexibility? 42% of us are willing to give up some of our salary for more flexibility at work. How much of a cut? 6%. Unless you're a guy, then it's up to 10%, believe it or not.

Flexibility is the key to happiness at work, especially during the summertime. The top two things employees want out of their bosses are flexible schedules and the ability to leave early on Fridays, and bosses are listening. 63% of managers have allowed workers to leave early on Fridays. Just 6% offer no benefits once summer hits.
