Women Still Do It All

Can't dad just have one weekend? One weekend without a story about how horrible he is? Nope! Because new research out this morning in the journal PLoS ONE found women still the majority of the housework, and it stresses them out. 85% of women indicated they do more than half of the housework while also maintaining a career outside the home.

No Time for Dad

Is it good for dad to take time off after having a child? Doesn't matter because two in five dads that had a child in the last five years took no time away from work. And 47% of those that did take a few days for the new baby felt pressured to return to work. 59% took one week or less off.

Here's some good news-- almost 9 out of 10 fathers today are spending more time with their kids than their own father did in the previous generation.

Get Outside

You would think that tech-savvy fathers who love gadgets wouldn't care if their kids sat inside all day and played online. Not true, according to a new survey. In fact, the most geeky of the techy dads out there are the first to tell their kids to get outside and play in the sun. The survey from Euro RSCB found 42% of "Digital Dads" shoo their kids outside to play, compared to just 31% of average fathers.

"Digital Dads" are not just strict when it comes to exercise, but 60% also limit the amount of time their kids spend behind the screen, compared to 50% of regular dads. The study found that tech dads understand the attraction of the gadgets, and at the same time feel guilty whenever their kids are in front of a screen on a sunny day.
