Power Blog! Here's an idea starter to get eyes on your blog today:

"10 Things You Didn't Know About Me"

That's it. Just list 10 things you've never shared with your listeners. Could be big (I only have 7 fingers), or small (I love the smell of jet fuel at airports). What are your 10? Here's what will go on my station blog today (friday)...

10 Things I've Never Told You

I'll probably regret telling you most of these, but what the heck, here we go:

During my entire sophomore year of high school, I dressed like Alex P. Keaton.

The first instrument I ever learned to play: The organ

My first car was a yellow Chrysler K-Car with wood grain siding

I love the smell of jet fuel at the airport

I'm embarrassed for the person that can't get off their cell phone when paying for something.

I got married three days before September 11th, 2001

My family was in a horrible auto accident when I was 8-years old. A drunk driver ran a red light and hit our car which broke every bone down the right side of my body. My mom was in a coma, but thankfully survived. I still think about that day when I see someone blow through a red light.

Zombies freak me out.

In Michigan, I'm a certified fire fighter.

My fantasy is to one day learn to fly. My fear is I'll get airsick during my first flight.

Worth Mentioning

Interesting article from a woman who finally figured out how to stop nagging her husband. Nagging, as you know, is a leading contributor to divorce, so this is a pretty important break through. Her strategy: Texting. She sends a text to remind him of certain tasks. Why is a text better? Because a text doesn't carry a certain vocal "tone" along with "that face." Read the full thing here

Lead Lips

Reuters reports about 400 lipsticks recently tested by the FDA contain traces of lead. A group called Campaign for Safe Cosmetics believes this is alarming because lead in lipstick could accumulate in your system over time. So who's the worst offender? Here are the top 10 lipsticks with the highest levels of lead:

1. Maybelline Color Sensational, Pink Petal (7.9 ppm)
2. L'Oreal Colour Riche, Volcanic, (7.0 ppm)
3. NARS Semi-Matte, Red Lizard (4.93 ppm)
4. Cover Girl Queen Collection, Ruby Remix, (4.92 ppm)
5. Nars Semi-Matte, Funny Face (4.89 ppm)
6. L'Oreal Colour Riche, Tickled Pink (4.45 ppm)
7. L'Oreal Intensely Moisturizing Lipcolor, Heroic (4.41 ppm)
8. Cover Girl Continuous Color, Warm Brick (4.28 ppm)
9. Maybelline Color Sensational, Mauve Me (4.23 ppm)
10. Stargazer Lipstick, #103 (4.12 ppm)

Lead poisoning is believed to stunt growth and lower IQ in children, and cause mood disorders and memory loss in adults. Source

What Never to Say To A Woman With...

...short hair. "It's funny how people think they have a license to say anything to women who cut their hair short," begins a piece from a woman that, yes, recently chopped off most of her hair. So, obviously feeling a little self-conscious about her new look, she came up with 7 things you should never say to a woman with short hair about her hair.

"May I help you, sir?"
"It totally reminds me of Sandy Duncan in 'Peter Pan.'"
"Did you just give up when you had the baby?"
"I loved you back when you had long hair."
"Don't worry, it'll grow back."
"You look so much better with short hair."
"Your short hair makes you look thinner."

The New Rules of Restaurant Etiquette

Tim Zagat, the co-founder of the fame Zagat Survey of restaurants, believes the old rules for restaurant etiquette need an update, so here's what he proposes:

1. Equality - Now that women earn as much or more as men, they should be treated as equals by the waitstaff in restaurants.

2. Paying for it - Whoever initiates a dinner date pays.

3. Ordering food - Gone are the days when women were expected to order first.

4. Handheld devices - Do not talk, tweet, email or surf the web at the table. It's rude.

5. Kids, kids, kids - It's fine to bring children, but not to places where they'd elevate the decibel level or restaurants that are meant to be romantic.

6. Dressing down or up - Dress casually. Hardly any restaurants require ties anymore. About the only rule left today is "don't be a slob."

7. Serious reservations - Treat your reservation as important commitments. Honor the reservation or cancel them on time.

8. Okay, now get out - Don't overstay your welcome at a busy restaurant. 60% in a survey support restaurants setting a time limit during peak hours.

9. Long live chivalry - Ladies, please humor men and let them open the door for you. It's not outdated.

10. Remember you're the customer - You should expect hospitable, efficient service and good food. If that doesn't happen, then take your money elsewhere and tell the next 10 people that you meet.

What is the rudest thing someone can do at a restaurant?

Joke of the Day

If a man is in the forest, talking to himself, with no wife around, is he still wrong?
