First Holiday Survey of the Year
As the stress of the holiday season approaches, a new survey found 21% of us plan on getting a second job to afford the gifts, entertaining and travel, and 12% already have a second job. To pay for gifts this year, most adults (77%) say they'll use cash, check or debit, while 36% plan to put it all on credit.
Most creative way we've already started saving money for the holidays:
- Bought gifts and wrapping paper a year in advance, when all the holiday merchandise is on clearance.
- Put my birthday gift cards to use toward Christmas presents.
- Assembled theme gift baskets using items I bought throughout the year using coupons.
- Saved up coins all year and submitted them to a coin counting machine to get a gift certificate.
Maybe That Wasn't the First
When you're out shopping for the holidays, how many of those gifts are purchased for YOU? The National Retail Federation found we plan to spend $130.43 on OURSELVES this holiday season on things like clothes, electronics, home goods, and other items.
The same survey determined we plan to dish out around $700 on holiday gifts (for other people!), that's down 2% from last year.
Are You Doomed to Cheat?
A recent survey discovered a quarter of women would be WILLING TO CHEAT if someone sparked their interest. 9% of men said the same thing. So... YourTango broke down who is more willing to stray by looking at a variety of studies.
Women will cheat...
...if they have power. Power raises testosterone, and there's a tie between power and infidelity. Plus, powerful women find a larger network of men at the top to work and travel with.
...if they're in the ovulatory phase of their cycle. Women become attracted to men who aren't their partners about 15 to 18 days before menstruation.
...if they have a prominent chin. This may be related to testosterone levels.
YourTango.com also included a little quiz in this article which is supposed to pull you back from the danger zone.
Are You At Risk of Cheating?
1. Are you attracted to someone else (at work, a neighbor or online)? Are you beginning to form a close friendship with that person?
2. Have you kept this friendship a secret from your husband?
3. Are you increasingly critical of your spouse, turned off by small things that never bothered you before?
4. Is your close social circle full of people who are having affairs? Or people who are divorced and dating a lot?
5. Are you putting extra care into your clothes, hair and makeup before you go anywhere you might run into a certain other guy (even if you insist to yourself you’re not interested in him)?

Gotta See This
Hmmmm...maybe cats are smarter than dogs.
Joke of the Day
Two rabbits were chased by a pack of wolves into a dense thicket. After a few minutes, one rabbit turned to the other and said, "Well, do you want to make a run for it or stay here a few days and outnumber them?"
