Today is National Wig Out Day to celebrate wigs. Today is also Bloomer Day, marking Amelia Bloomer's birth on this day in 1818. Bloomer pushed for sensible clothes for women leading to "Bloomers," comfy atheletic pants for women.

On this day in 1995, Superman was thrown from his horse during a jumping event in Charlottsville, Virginia. Christopher Reeve was left paralyzed. He died in 2004 at age 52.
