What at first was horrible, but in the end, changed your life?

Jerry Douthett, from Rockford, Michigan, slammed too many margaritas last weekend and ended up passed out on his couch.  That's when his little dog, Kiko, went into action.  You see, while Jerry was passed out, Kiko ate his big toe.  Most of it at least, and swallowed it, too.  Hang in there with me, this gets good.

Jerry slept through it all, and when finally woke, all his wife heard was:  "My toe, my toe!"

Here's the kicker -- in the hospital Jerry found out he had Type 2 diabetes with a dangerously high blood-sugar level.  His big toe was infected and needed to be amputated.  Kiko sensed that and decided to pull a "Doogy Houser" all by himself.  

"If it hadn't been for that dog, I could have ended up dead," he said.

New government research released yesterday found 27% of us are obese, but there's good reason to think that the rate is much higher since experts believe many of us lie about our weight and height.  Another survey released earlier this year by the CDC measured the obesity rate closer to 34%.  How much would you lie, if at all?

  • There's a rumor that Chris Lambton, the guy that got his heart broken the other night by Ali on The Bachelorette, may become the next Bachelor on ABC.  He says he'll have to think long and hard about it after sharing so much in front of millions.  " I'm not really sure if I want to share all that again."  source

  • Snooki has a court date.  The "Jersey Shore" bad girl will appear in Seaside Heights municipal court  on August 18th at 9 a.m. to answer to disorderly conduct charges.  No jail time, but Polizzi could be fined between $250 to $1,000.  source

  • A twist on "Alice in Wonderland" hits Broadway next year.  "Wonderland: A New Alice" follows a woman named Alice (ironically) who is estranged from her husband, alienated from her daughter, and in danger of losing her career.  She finds herself in Wonderland where strange characters help her rediscover the wonder in her life.  Performances begin March 21st.  source
