-Friday: Serious Soap Opera Day which marks the debut of "As the World Turns" and "The Edge of Night" on CBS TV. "Edge of Night" lasted until 1984, "As the World Turns" is still turning...at least until September. Look for an appearance by Julian Moore on April 5th.
-Saturday: Overcome a Handicap Day marking this day in 1981 when Canadian high jumper Arnie Boldt cleared 6 ft 8 1/4 inches -- with only one leg!
-Sunday: Easter Sunday commemorating the Resurrection of Jesus.

"topeka" - A major corporate shakeup, Google changed its name to "Topeka" yesterday. They flipped in honor of Topeka, Kansas who promised to rename itself "Google" to get the company's high-speed broadband service.

UPDATE: "Topeka" is now known as "Google" again. Could this have been an APRIL FOOLS JOKE? How dare they!


Speaking of, check out this April Fools joke that Johns Hopkins University put on their website. The homepage claimed the university changed its School name, dropping the "s" in "Johns" (the way most Americans say it anyway).

"uss nicholas" - The USS Nicholas captured pirates off the coast of Somalia yesterday after the pirates fired on the guided missile frigate. The frigate fired back and sunk their boat. Hey pirates, don't bring a bat to a gun fight! 3 pirates were apprehended. Two more were arrested after the Nicholas discovered their mother ship. All are in US custody and now the next question is what to do with them.

Should you be allowed time off work after a break-up?
We take time-off for health or child care issues, so is it a good idea to take a week off after a break-up or divorce? A Forbes.com columnist uses the Sandra Bullock issue to point out that after Bullock found out about her cheating husband, she cancelled a major movie premiere and several appearances. Now, Sandra is not in danger of damaging her career, but what about the rest of us? Should our boss understand if we find out the hubby is cheating? Two experts - two different opinions:

--Therapist Irina Firstein:
"These events, while very traumatic, don't require a long time off work," she says. "In fact, I think it is most helpful to try and continue your usual activities. This takes away some of the focus and energy on obsessively dwelling on one's pain."

--Dr. Sally Wright:
"Situations involving relationship breakup are every bit as mentally and emotionally taxing as those which are characterized as 'acceptable' reasons. In fact they are often more difficult to deal with."

Susan Sarandon is speaking out about her break-up with Tim Robbins. She told Entertainment Weekly that it's weird to date again. The two were together 23-years and broke up late last year. "I did a movie a long time ago where I had to fly in a glider. You get towed up in the air by a plane, and it's loud and annoying. And at some point you pull the cord and you're suddenly floating, and in your mind it makes absolutely no sense. But it's exhilarating and terrifying at the same time. That's where I am now."

Reunited and it feels so goooood. Clay Aiken and Ruben Studdard are planning a summer tour through North America. The season two winner and runner up (remember which was which?) will kick off the "Timeless" tour in Asheville, NC on July 23rd.


And the new face of Weight Watchers will be...wait for it... Jennifer Hudson! She says she's doing it to be a good example for her infant son: "This is a good way of how I would want my child to grow up, because so many times in growing up, you gain really bad habits ... so I want to make sure that he's going into this and I'm being a good example for him," she says.
