Fewer dieting

We're finally giving up! Fewer people are dieting and women are leading the decline. In 1992, 35% of women said they were dieting. Last year it was 23%.
Helping that trend is the perception that skinny is not all that attractive. In 1985, 55% of people thought people who were not overweight were more attractive. That number has dropped to fewer than one-in-four!

Is bigger the new normal? Of course, it's all relative. As this article points out, what used to be a size 8 dress in the 1950's, is a size zero in this decade.

Fitness is king!

It may not be a shock to find out that our top New Years resolution is to get more exercise. What's interesting, though, is the kind of person that made a resolution for 2013. The survey found that they're behaving more responsibly now than they did five years ago compared to those not making a resolution for this year.

Top resolutions:
  1. Fitness/exercise
  2. Healthy eating
  3. Family
  4. Spirituality/faith
  5. Managing personal finances

You're more likely to make a resolutions if you're young and single, according to this survey of nearly 1800 U.S. residents aged 18-64.

7 things that scare men

The love experts at Yourtango.com wrote this article so women could better understand what stresses a guy out, and to realize he isn't going to talk about it with you... Here are the 7 things that scare men:

  1. Making enough money
  2. Having a legacy. Being known for something
  3. Losing their job
  4. Getting old
  5. Getting cancer
  6. Wondering if their significant other is satisfied...if you know what I mean
  7. Being a good dad

Facebook/Phones: That's a great list for men. Hits the bulls eye. So let's turn it around...if you're a woman, what's your number one fear?

Can you predict your future? Nope!

A very interesting study out of the journal Science discovered that we're horrible at predicting our own future. We can guess, but we'll be wrong. We tend to think where we are in life now is where we will always be, but this study found we're wrong almost all the time.

Think about it, can you believe where you are now compared to a decade ago? What kind of things did you find lame a decade ago that you absolutely love now!

Personal: My idea of a great Saturday night 10-years ago was going out for drinks with a big group of people... the perfect Saturday night 10-years later is a 9pm bedtime!

If you're serious about a long, loving marriage...

The love experts at Yahoo! all agree that if you really want your marriage to last, then you can't violate these 10 rules!

1. Don't criticize your partner's parents or friends
2. Tell your spouse about any ex encounters.
3. Keep unsolicited advice to yourself.
4. Don't take charge all the time. '
5. Don't bring up past arguments.
6. Choose your battles, but don't stifle your feelings.
7. Don't post private thoughts or photos publicly.
8. Log off. (the computer/phone/iPad)
9. Don't use the "D" word (divorce, that is).
10. Be each other's number one.
