Where to retire for under a grand a month

Is it possible to retire on just $12-grand a year? According to InternationalLiving.com, the answer is yes, but you have to move away from Starbucks -- literally.

Nicaragua at $995/month. Yes, it's one of the poorest countries in the Western Hemisphere, but the editors say you'll live with even more luxuries than you were accustomed to.

Malaysia on $1,000/month

Great beaches and stunning scenery. An entire bag full of fresh fruit (mangoes, bananas, apples, oranges, and pineapples,) cost just $4. A meal out is $10, and cable TV is just $40.

Panama on $1,865/month

A full time maid only costs $175/month. Dinner for two with a bottle of wine is only $30.

Mexico on $2,129/month

Utilities such as electricity, gas, water, phone, cable, and Internet only add up to $220/month. Downside: Violent crime.

Three minutes of exercise a week is all you need

For some, it's three to four hours. For you, it's three minutes. That's all you need to be in solid physical shape, according to researchers. They say 30-second bursts of intense exercise delivers the same results as hours in the gym. The results are being called "ground breaking" and will lead to conventional medical textbooks on exercise being torn up.

So why do short bursts of energy do just as much as long a long exercise session? Scientists aren't exactly sure, but they think it may have something to do with the ravenous appetite that is built up during many hours in the gym. The same appetite is not as demanding after a short burst workout.

Here's how it works:

  • Stretch and warmup for a few minutes.
  • Go 80 to 90% of flat-out for 30 seconds.
  • Rest up to a minute
  • Repeat two more time

Stuff you shouldn't say to your kid...cause it isn't true

Author Ken Jennings says there's no truth behind the things you thought you'd never say to your kids, but you do....

  • "When you open the oven all the heat lets out"
  • "Sugar makes you hyper"
  • "Coffee will stunt your growth"
  • "If you crack your knuckles, you'll get arthritis"
  • "Don't swim for an hour after lunch"
  • "Follow the five second rule"
  • "Put on a hat or you'll freeze to death"
  • "let that cut air out so it heals"
  • "Don't sit so close to the TV"
  • "Shaving makes hair grow back thicker
  • Sip soda to settle your stomach"
