radio show prep: things that will get worse over the holidays; buy toys that won't kill your kids; and nerds win!

Hey ladies and gents -- this could quite possibly be the last prep for the year. I planned on having one more out for Friday, but we have a big station event tomorrow night, and I don't know if I'll have time for it. Either way, I'll be taking the next couple weeks off.

If you don't hear from me tomorrow, have a blessed holiday. Stay safe and we'll hook up next year.

Three men die in a car accident Christmas Eve. They all find themselves at the pearly gates waiting to enter heaven. On entering they are told that they must present something "Christmassy." in order to get in.

The first man searches his pocket, and finds some pine needles from the family's Christmas tree. He is let it. The second man presents a bow and some ribbon, from presents that were opened earlier in that night. So he is also allowed in.

The third man pulls out a pair of panties. Confused at this last gesture, St. Peter asks, "How do these represent Christmas?"

To which he replies, "Oh, They're Carol's."

Surviving Christmas

5 things that will get worse over the holidays...
Yay! Fun list. Yahoo! says the holidays, as cheery as they are, can make some things worse, including...
  • Your relationships -- with your loved ones and partner. Partners not living up to expectations, and old family wounds surfacing can make for a stressful holiday.
  • Your health -- Viruses peak around this time of year, so you may start looking like a red-nosed reindeer. Get sleep and eat right. Oh, and wash your hands.
  • Your heart -- More people have fatal heart attacks during the winter months than any other time of year.
  • Your waistline -- Hmmmmm...wonder why?
  • Anxiety about finances -- Gifts, travel, and normal bills create stress. Get some exercise and don't go over budget

Nerds Win!

The women of America have spoken -- they love men who wear glasses! 87% of women think men in glasses are sexy. As you would expect, this survey is sponsored by an online eyewear retailer.

How to properly kiss...

Compliments of 1942. A before and after here. You're welcome.

Yes, we're overworked...

...but we're tough, dangit! We're Americans! A new survey proves you're not alone - we're all overworked. Close to 9 in 10 of us, from owners and managers to employees and freelancers, feel overworked. Of those, close to 40% are just fine with it and are quite satisfied with their work-life.

In fact, 42% of everyone in the study are happy with their work-life balance. 46% admit they feel overloaded from time to time but very few let it get to them.

What inspires us to be more efficient? Interesting that it's not money, but a sense of responsibility. In fact, the order to drives us goes like this:
  1. A sense of responsibility
  2. A "good mood" makes us more efficient
  3. The potential for more money
