joke of the day

"I am not at all satisfied with the evidence against you,"said the judge to a suspected thief on trial.

"so I shall find you not guilty. You are discharged."

" Oh, good," said the prisoner, " does that mean that I can keep the money?"

No Twinkies?

So what was your first thought when you heard Hostess was shutting down? I mean, besides feeling bad for over 18,000 people that will lose their jobs. That's bad. But you thought of running to the store and buying up as many boxes of Twinkies as you could, right? You're not alone. It didn't take too long for stores across the country to sell out of Twinkies and Ding Dongs.

Some entrepreneurial types even drove from store to store, buying up what they could, only to put them up for sale on Craigslist and eBay. Greg Edmonds is selling his stock of 16 boxes of Twinkies and Ding Dongs for $300 on eBay. "I could really use the money since I'm unemployed," he said.

By the way, contrary to popular belief, Twinkies don't last forever. In fact, most bought in stores Friday have an expiration date of early December. Throw them in the freezer (they taste better that way, anyway...or is it just me?)

Black Friday Secrets

Michael Brim from bfads.net has a few cool tips for saving even more on Black Friday.

Online deals...

Many stores will kick off their online Black Friday sales starting at midnight, first thing Thanksgiving morning.

Brick and mortar stores serve up their best deals online on Thanksgiving Day

Big online retailers like Amazon, Overstock and New Egg will offer their biggest price cuts on Cyber Monday.

Not So Obvious...

Washers, refrigerators, dryers and ranges --- not what people typically buy around the holidays, but you can get the best deals on appliances around this time of year.

New electronic deal...

Here's a new trend -- deep discounts on tablets! Some even in the $100 range. Keep in mind that they aren't the iPad or Nexus 7, but they'll get the job done for most people.

Deep discounts on Apple products?

...nope. You won't find any. You may, though, find retailers offering gift cards (Walmart, for example) when you buy an iPad or iPod at the regular price.

Better deals as we approach Christmas...

Except for the midnight door busters on Black Friday, prices on gifts from Barbies to blenders are lower two weeks before Christmas.
