joke of the day

Fire swept the plains and burned down the farmer’s barn. While he surveyed the wreckage, his wife called their insurance company and asked them to send a check for $75,000, the amount of insurance on the barn. “We don’t give you the money,” a company official explained. “We replace the barn and all the equipment in it.”

“In that case,” replied the wife, “cancel the policy I have on my husband.”

The Morning After

Just when you think every detail of your wedding has been covered, along comes one more thing -- "morning after" photos. Oh yes... more and more newlyweds are inviting photographers into their hotel bedrooms to snap pictures of their rumpled beds and steamy showers. Photographers are doing it "sexy and implied," too, with shots of couples rolling around in bed in various stages of undress, and baring almost all to their partner (and, of course, the person behind the lens).

So you're asking...why??? Two reasons, according to this article:

    • One bride said she did it to prove that marriage is happy
    • Another, making a better point, "when you get married, you're in the best shape of your life and why not have these memories.

    First Love is Forever

Here's something that Facebook has only made worse -- our obsession with our first love. A new survey found 1 in 5 Brits would like to get back together with their first love.

And get this -- 21% say they're secrectly planning a reunion with their first sweetheart! Men are more likely than women to make this happen with 24% admitting they still lust after an ex.

One more that should get you thinking: One-in-six men are still secretly in contact with a former flame!

Phones/Facebook: Have you ever rekindled a romance with your first love -- was it worth it? Or was it a better fantasy in your head?

    Dating Advice

If you're using a dating website to meet people, and think you may have found someone interesting, be careful with that first email -- it can make or break you. Here are five tips to writing that first email:

    1. Be brief. One short paragraph. It may kill you to stop writing because you have sooo much to say, but do it.
    2. Be funny. Don't say "I'm funny," but say something funny.
    3. Be sexy. Careful with this one, but a little sexual spark doesn't hurt.
    4. Be provocative. Go over the edge and say something forthright -- example: "Hey! Hurry up and write me! How are we going to get this romance off the ground?" That's a real example that worked like a charm
    5. Be silly. Show your silly side. Oh, and be very careful with emoticons and acronyms. Use them, but sparingly.
