Joke of the Day

This scientist was telling a colleague, "I have worked for many years
to develop an acid that would eat anything and I finally did it.” So I invested everything I had and could borrow into it.

“You must have made a fortune,” commented his friend. “No! I lost all my investments. I couldn't find anything to ship it in.” replied the scientist.

Favorite Body Parts

Women were asked what they love most about, well, themselves! #1 was a no-brainer -- eyes. 40% voted for their beautiful eyes, followed by lips/smile (20%) and hair (12%).

Best/Worst Anniversary Gifts

When it comes to buying an anniversary gift, whether it's a one-year or 50-year, follow this rule: Never buy them something they wouldn't want to tell their friends about. So here's a list of the best and worst anniversary gifts you can buy:

Best

1 A shared adventure (sky diving, wine tasting)
2 Something to commemorate your anniversary date (drinks at the bar where you met, eat the same food you had on your wedding day, etc)
3 Something to carry always (this is where jewelry comes in)

Ok, now the WORST possible gifts to give on your anniversary

1 Something that's actually for yourself (giving her lingerie, for example)
2 Something related to self-improvement (treadmill, anyone?)
3 A gift card (nothing says "I don't know you" better than a gift card)

Facebook/Phones -- what's the worst anniversary gift you ever received?

What a Blast!

Rare footage of what a nuclear blast actually sounds like has been released by the National Archives. The old footage you usually see in films used stock explosion sound effects, but in this 1953 test explosion, you hear the real thing. Watching the video, you'll SEE the explosion well before hearing it. That could be a sync issue with the film, or possible how it was... either way, it's very, very eerie. The film is here

Tweet of the Day

'Um, so we've been lost on the road for 4hrs. Not a good first impression London.'

-That's from U.S. Olympic hurdler Kerron Clement who was stranded in traffic for four hours trying to get to the Olympic Village. The commute was only supposed to take 45 minutes. Apparently his driver got lost.

One Step Forward, Two Back...

One in four adults in Britain is officially obese. It's getting so bad that experts warn that the country's children may be the first generation to die at an earlier age than their parents. So the the National Health Service decided it would be wise to actually pay for weight loss surgery in order to cut down the cost of treating diabetes. Some warned it was the diabetes treatments that would bankrupt the NHS if something is not done. Each surgery set the taxpayer back about $15-grand.

So did it work? Not really. A study found 63% of patients end up putting the weight back on within two years of the operation. Why? Because even though the surgery made them feel full, their addiction to food remains.
As a result, more and more patients are asking for a do-over.

Facebook/Phones: Anyone have the surgery? Did it work?
