janet jackson music trivia, trailer to that katy perry flick, and finally some good news for tom cruise (and his wallet)

Happy 5th!  I can't believe how much I ate yesterday.  There's something about picnic food that turns me into an animal...and I'm paying for it this morning.

Anywho, if you're working today, have a great show, and like the last few days my prep is very light today.  I'm still working on my new site which I hope to launch early next month.  Here is what I've accomplished so far...

  • Loaded the template and started adding content
  • Realized I hate the template....looking for new one
  • Established a newsletter mailing list
  • Loaded a plug-in for a podcast -- more details on that soon
  • Loaded a variety of other plug-ins (if you're familiar with Wordpress, you know what I'm talking about)

So far so good.  I'm excited about the website and think it will serve a radio niche that is greatly underserved.  Stay-tuned --

Joke of the Day

(a vdj classic!)

Two man playing golf were held up by two women playing in front of them. One man said: "I'll walk up to them and tell them to hurry up." When he returned he said: "I have a problem, one of the women is my wife and the other one is my mistress." The second man said: "I'll walk up to them and hurry them up." He came back and said: " We both have the same problem.”  (evil laugh)

Trivia:  On This Day in Music

What brand new Janet Jackson album were you running out to buy on this day in 1986...the album would hit #1 for the next two weeks...

Was the name of the album: Janet Jackson, Control, or Rhythm Nation 1814?  Here's a hint!

Answer:  Control!  She had huge hits from this album like Control, Nasty, What Have You Done for Me Lately, The Pleasure Principle, When I Think of You, and Let's Wait Awhile

Sidenote:  It was also on this day in 1986 that Billy Ocean went to No.1 on the US singles chart with 'There'll Be Sad Songs
