New research discovered something we all knew -- jocks that constantly get hit in the head perform worse on tests than their nerdy (the rest of us) friends. Researchers tested college athletes from contact sports and non-contact sports at the beginning and end their seasons.
22% of students who were in contact sports scored significantly lower than expected as opposed to only 4% of athletes in non-contact sports.
Phones/Facebook: Do you really think it's the contact in these sports that's affecting these athletes, or could the time involved to play the sport be a factor, too? Are you a former football player? Can you still dial a phone number and eat with a spoon?

Parents Happier Than Non Parents
It turns out parents aren't miserable, stressed-out, and unhappy. In fact, it's just the opposite. Two universities discovered that parents experience greater happiness than non-parents, and feel better on a moment to moment basis. Of course, age plays a role, too. Older, married parents are happier than young parents under the age of 26. And interestingly, fathers admitted to being particularly content and filled with positive emotions compared to their childless buddies.Source
