Joke of the Day

A man playing golf by himself at Pebble Beach was teamed with a twosome.

After a few holes, the twosome finally asked why he was playing such a beautiful course by himself. He replied that he & his wife had played the course every year for over 20 years, but this year she had passed away and he kept the tee time in her memory.

The twosome commented that they thought certainly someone would have been willing to take her spot.

"So did I" he said, "but they all wanted to go to the funeral"

Here's a Tip!

Question: Why do you leave a tip? Do you leave something extra for good effort, or because you feel you have to? Most of us leave a tip for good work. A CouponCabin study found 62% base our tips off the service we receive. 20% leave something behind because we feel we have to.

One-third of us are quick to punish by leaving NOTHING behind for service we felt was less than average.

Who do you tip? Great question... let's find out:

  • Restaurant staff (including wait staff, take out coordinator, maitre d') – 87 percent
  • Hairstylist – 68 percent
  • Bartender – 59 percent
  • Taxi, car or limo driver – 55 percent
  • Valet – 51 percent
  • Bellhop – 50 percent
  • Beauty treatment provider (manicures, pedicures, waxing, etc…) – 40 percent
  • Spa treatment provider (massages, facials, skin treatments, etc…) – 33 percent
  • Restroom attendant – 21 percent
  • Home delivery (new furniture, appliances, etc…) – 19 percent

10 Brands that Made a Comeback

Here are ten brands that looked doomed, but somehow convinced us they were cool again...

  1. Dr. Martens (those clunky boots from the 70's...came back in 2007 under a "Vintage" line)
  2. Apple (The 90's were not good to apple until Mr. Jobs took over in 1997...I think we know what happened after that)
  3. Keds (The 80's shoe fell hard, but bounced back in 2008 when they introduced "Kids Studio" which allowed you to customize your own pair)
  4. Garanimals (children's clothing from the early 70's faded away until some slick marketing in 2008 brought them back in favor. It helps when Walmart carries your brand, too.)
  5. Lego (Strong sales for 60 years hit a wall in 2003. Things looked bad until Mattel bought them out and introduced Lego Super Heroes and Lego "Lord of the Rings" lines. Have you been in a Legos store recently? Two words: Not Cheap.)
  6. Marvel Comics (Bankruptcy in late 90's brought Marvel Entertainment Group and Toy Biz together to form Marvel Enterprises, which brought us some pretty awesome movies like "X-Men" and "Spider-Man.")
  7. The Muppets (They faded from popularity in the 2000's, until Walt Disney purchased the brand in 2004. A viral video strategy on YouTube (remember Bohemian Rhapsody?) set the stage for a movie)
  8. Polaroid (The One-Step was the coolest invention ever back in the day. Time changes everything, though, and they ceased production in 2007. Bankruptcy followed in 2008, and 2010 brought us something new -- a digital Polaroid camera that dispenses photos via an on-board printer.)
  9. Nintendo (The company has been around 120 years, founded as a manufacturer of playing cards. The video game business began in 1974. Donkey King, Super Mario Brothers -- good times. Then Sony released the PlayStation 2. The future seemed bleak for Nintendo until 2006 when they release the Wii. Huge hit.)
  10. Old Spice (The "Old Spice Man" telling us to "Smell Like a Man" made Old Spice cool again)

Hit him where it hurts

Claire Holley decided to get back at the boyfriend who dumped her by driving his car to where he works... watch what happens

Facebook/Phoner:   As long as it's not considered a felony, what is the most evil thing you ever did to get back at an ex?

 Facebook idea:

Three Stooges opens this weekend in theaters which means people will start poking each other in the eyes again -- and discover it really really hurts.

Here's my question -- what looks like it shouldn't hurt that much -- but really does!  I'll start it out with PAPER CUTS.  I've cut my face up with a razor and that comes nowhere close to the pain from a tiny paper cut!
