Holidays
8 Ways to Be Single and Survive the Holidays
* Make a date with yourself. Indulge in your favorite things. Treat yourself to a special takeout meal. Buy a book you've been wanting to read. Rent a movie and snuggle up with a pet. Relax in a bubble bath.
* Embrace your loved ones. The holidays are a chance to celebrate all kinds of love. Just because you're not part of a couple does not mean you're not loved. Celebrate the season with friends and family.
* Reach out. Don't count on others to figure out you could use some company. Drop a hint that you have no plans. Many people love to open their homes at the holidays.
* Make your own party. Find others who might otherwise be alone on the holidays and create an "alternative family." Arrange a potluck dinner or movie outing to create new traditions.
* Help others. Volunteer for people in need at a homeless shelter or senior center. You'll feel more connected and it will help to put the holiday in perspective.
* Skip the holiday. There's no rule the day has to be celebrated if it upsets you. Take a trip to get out of the tinsel-and-Santa mindset.
* Plan activities unrelated to the holidays.
Lose yourself in a project. Start a scrapbook, paint your bedroom, update your journal, or learn a new tune on the piano.
* Keep yourself healthy. If you don't care for yourself well, you'll be more prone to feelings of sadness and loneliness. Stay healthy by eating nutritious foods, exercising regularly, getting plenty of sleep, and drinking alcohol only in moderation, if at all.

Phoner -- How about some reasons it's AWESOME to be single around the holidays!
- No travelling from one family's house to the next
- No buying a zillion gifts for extended family you rarely see
- Make tons of overtime cash for everyone that can't work over the holiday
- There's always a last minute flight that can take you someplace warm
- No waiting in line with 70 other screaming kids to meet Santa
- Did I mention the fact you have to buy a zillion gifts for extended family you rarely see? Oh, I did... just wanted to make the point again.
Top 3 Ways to Avoid Contacting Your Ex This Holiday Season

Stores Jammed!
I don't about you, but the parking lot was jammed outside the mall this weekend, even more than last year. There's good reason why -- spending on gifts this holiday season will be up 22% over last year. The average American plans to spend $751 on gifts. Strange because the national mood remains downbeat. In a survey from the National Retail Federation, only 27% think the economy will get better in the next year, down 10% from a year ago. 61% say the current economy is poor, the worst readings in five years. Merry Christmas everyone!
Dropping the Pounds
Finally, a diet that makes sense!
A new study has discovered that it's better to cut carbs just two days a week instead of going low calorie every day! In a new study, women who dropped bread, rice and potatoes two days a week, and then ate a normal diet the rest of the time, dropped 9 pounds over a 4-month period. On the other hand, women who counted calories and stuck to a 1500- cal per day diet only lost 5 pounds over the same time span.

Freakiest ad of 2011
The strangest of the strange, according to Ad Week, is supposed to promote sleep medication, but watching it is enough to keep you up all night.Joke of the Day
A little boy named Paul was in church one Sunday with his mother when he started to feel sick.
"Mommy," he asked, "can we leave now?"
"No" the mother replied.
"Well, I think I have to throw up!"
"Then go out the front door and around to the back of the church and throw up behind a bush."
After about sixty seconds, Paul returned to his seat.
"Did you throw up?" Mom asked.
"Yes," he replied.
"How could you have gone all the way to the back of the church and returned so quickly?" his mother asked.
"I didn't have to go out of the church, Mommy," he replied: "They have a box next to the front door that says, 'For The Sick'."
