The Sober Pill?
Scientists are getting close to a pill that will prevent the sloppy effects of drinking. It's a drug that will block the glial cells, the cells responsible for telling your body that you've had too much to drink. They turn you into a dizzy bobble-head after slamming too many martinis.
If developed, the upside will be preventing more drinking and driving accidents. The downside will be that pesky little issue of alcohol abuse. If you could drink even more, would you?
Signs You're Heading For Divorce
The folks at Babble.com have put together a divorce checklist. They admit that everyone is different, and this isn't a one-size-fits-all list, but it's a start. Here are the signs:
Scratch That Whole “Best Friend” Thing (If you consider six other people your BF before your spouse -- that's trouble)
There are Outbursts (Out of the blue, your spouse blurts out "I feel we've had no connection for years." Ignore at your peril)
You Are No Longer... Romantic ("being physically indifferent to (or repulsed by) your bedmate is no small thing")
You Fantasize About An Affair
There Is Dread (Not looking forward to them coming home from work)
You're Drinking Too Much
You Are Watched (hiding your journal, email and cell phone is no fun)
...Or Watching
There Is Frequent Rolling of the Eyes
One Of You Is Happy (If one is unhappy, both are unhappy)
Hands Down a Bad Idea
A junior school in the U.K. has banned kids from raising their hands if they know the answer. Instead, they'll keep their hands on their desk and raise their thumbs. We're serious. Teacher Cheryl Adams says raised hands are a distraction: ‘It can put them off because they have to put their ideas forward in a forceful way. You normally get half a dozen who will regularly put up their hand and another half a dozen who will never put their hand up."
Welcome to life, kids!
I Now Pronounce You Man and Wife... for the 100th Freakin' Time!"
Lauren and David Blair of Tennessee have set a record. They hold the Guinness World Record for "Most Marriage Vow Renewels by the Same Couple." They've been married 100 times. Why? Lauren says, "We knew we were meant for each other and wanted to continually share that vow experience."
