EatingWell Magazine investigated McDonald's, Starbucks and Dunkin' Donuts for the best and worst when it comes to a icy caffeinated drink. Here's what they found:
The healthiest choice at all three restaurants is to order an iced coffee with skim milk. Most 16 ounce servings will deliver less than 100 calories.
McDonalds:
Worst - McDonald’s Frappe Mocha (medium, 16 ounces) delivers 560 calories, 24 g fat, 70 g sugar, 160 mg sodium. May as well eat a Big Mac.
Better - Shave 90 calories by skipping the whipped cream and chocolate drizzle. Save even more by ordering a 12-ounce.
Starbucks:
Worst - Starbucks Mocha Frappuccino (Grande, 16 ounces) delivers 360 calories, 14 g fat, 9 g saturated fat, 54 g sugar, 210 mg sodium.
Better - No whipped cream and use skim milk to save 130 calories.
Dunkin' Donuts:
Worst - Dunkin’ Donuts Coffee Coolata (small, 16 ounces) delivers 240 calories, 4 g fat, 2.5 g saturated fat, 49 g sugar, 90 mg sodium.
Better - Order it with skim and save 30 calories.
