Today is National Chip and Dip Day (or as I like to call it, Say Goodbye To Your Diet Day!). It's also Cuddly Kitten Day, National Puppy Day, and Rally for Decency Day.
It's also Near Miss Day marking this day in 1989 when a mountain sized asteroid passed within 500-thousand miles of earth. That's labeled a "close call" by NASA. Which sparks this question:
Worst Song Ever?
(photo: YouTube)
Is it possible? After Milli Vanilli, Biz Markie, and endless boy bands, is it possible that we have finally stumbled upon the WORST SONG EVER? The song called "Friday" was recorded by 13-year old Rebecca Black. Her parents paid for the studio time and video hoping to attract the attention of an audience on YouTube.
It did. But not in the way they intended. Yahoo!'s music blog calls it a "mind-meltingly horrific song," and Time magazine calls it a "train wreck." The comments under her video on YouTube are brutal. So bad you start to feel sorry for her.
But she may have the last laugh. The video has so far been watched by over 35-million people, and ranks at #45 on the iTunes list of best-selling 99-cent singles. Translation: College is paid for.
What do you think? Watch
Prediction: Watch for her on American Idol and the song will rank on Billboard's top 20. You know it's comin'!
Nerdy Stuff: Firefox 4
Ok, I like nerdy things like the release of a new browser. Why? Because every new browser is cleaner, faster, and FREEEE. Firefox 4 was release yesterday (over 3-million downloads as of last night!) and BusinessInsider.com broke down its best features... so if you care (and I know you do), here they are:
- Browsing is faster
- It looks like Google's Chrome browser with tabs placed above the URL bar
- FF4 can be synced across any other device running Firefox.
- The Firefox add-on library has been redesigned
- A crash in one tab does NOT crash the entire browser.
- FF4 uses hardware-accelerated graphics that make for better video
