(For teachers) Are parents too involved in their kid's lives or are they getting a bad rap?

Colleges are telling parents to TAKE A HIKE!  Universities have found it necessary to separate parents from their kids on move-in day so they're using sneaky tactics like closing a gate -- literally.

Morehouse College in Atlanta marches incoming freshman through the gates of the campus - which are then swung shut leaving parents on the outside.  Cold...but funny.

Deans will tell stories of "velcro parents" lingering around campus for days.  On dad even attended his daughter's first day of classes with her.

Here's a take from the VP of student affairs at Grinnell:  “A good deal of it has to do with the evolution of overinvolvement in our students’ lives...These are the baby-on-board parents, highly invested in their students’ success. They do a lot of living vicariously, and this is one manifestation of that.”

Is it time for airlines to enforce a dress code?  If so, what should it be?

An American Airlines passenger posted a photo on CNN's iReport of a man in Dallas-Fort-Worth airport waiting to board a flight wearing this:

The woman's husband thought he shouldn't be allowed to board saying the outfit is "ok for a male revue nightclub, but not for public daytime."

The man was allowed to board the plane.

Think about it -- if a woman were dressed like this, would she be stopped before trying to board?

Let's go further -- should airlines start enforcing a dress code like upscale restaurants?  You're paying more for the ticket than you are a meal, right?  How about no sweats, no pajamas, and no bare feet?  Not that I've thought about this ever! :)

JOKE OF THE DAY

A middle-aged woman had a heart attack and was taken to the hospital. While on the operating table, she had a near-death experience. Seeing God, she asked if this was it. God said: "No, you have another 43 years, 2 months and 8 days to live."

Upon recovery, the woman decided to stay in the hospital and have a face-lift, liposuction, breast augmentation, and a tummy tuck. She even had someone come in and change her hair color. Since she had so much more time to live, she figured she might as well make the most of it.

She got out of the hospital after the last operation, and while crossing the street was killed by an ambulance speeding to the hospital. Arriving in front of God, she demanded: "I thought you said I had another 43 years?"

“Sorry,” God replied: "I didn't recognize you."
