POP QUIZ

On this very day in 2000, the first episode of "Survivor" aired with Richard Hatch walking away with the $1-million.  What far-off, exotic location hosted the first season of Survivor?

ANSWER

Survivor: Borneo!  In Pulau Tiga, Sabah, Malaysia.  It was the only season to have a winner revealed on location rather than live and in the U.S.

"guatemala sink hole"- How disturbing is this?  This photo was posted on the Flickr feed of the Guatemalan government showing a giant, seemingly bottomless sinkhole that opened up Sunday in Guatemala City following tropical storm Agatha.  The storm's death toll in Central America had risen to 115 at last count.  The big question now is -- what do you do about this?  You can't fill it in, can you?  Any suggestions?  How about filling it up with extra copies of Heidi Montag's album?

What is currently the most overused expression?
"I know, right?"  THAT phrase has to go straight to the top, don't you think?  It's especially annoying when anyone over the age of 19 uses it.  What expression is being thrown around a little too much today?

Check out this list of the 5 most overused expressions on the Internet, according to Jezebel.com... here are 3:

  • FAIL -  "fail" has replaced "awesome" as the word that everyone needs to pull back on by roughly 9000%. Your inability to finish breakfast at the diner last week was not a "Pancake Fail." Your mascara getting in your hair is not a "Cosmetics Fail."

  • TL; DR/ "Too long; didn't read."   If something on the internet is too long for you to read, I'm sorry. Life is hard. Go to Twitter.

  • "Wow...just, wow." NO, JUST NO. This is maybe the most annoying phrase in internet history. "Wow...just wow," is one of the laziest remarks you'll see in any comment section, because it requires no thought whatsoever while implying that the reader does, in fact, have several thoughts on whatever brought them to the brink of implied speechlessness.

Is it okay for a spouse to keep a few secrets to him or herself?
Where do you draw the line?  Would you care, let's say...
  • That he loved to play video games, never told you, and did so after you went to sleep?
  • Would it bug you if she never told you about her blog where she talks about you and her kids and the challenges of being a career mom?

What are good secrets and what are bad?

Katherine Heigl on secrets:  “I don’t think my husband does but I think that everybody has a right to their own thoughts, their own feelings and their own private moments, if they want them...If my husband had a second wife in Spain, that would probably be too big a secret to keep. But, if he’s using Rogaine, that’s okay, he doesn’t have to tell me.”

CELEBRITY TWEETS

  • We lost Gary Coleman on Friday.  Word is he fell down the stairs in his Santaquin, Utah home last Wednesday, but all the only thing the hospital will say is Coleman suffered an intracranial hemorrhage after an "accident."  Police say there is "absolutely nothing suspicious about (Coleman's) death," and there is no criminal investigation around the matter.  His mom is not happy with that answer and would like to "know exactly what happened."  source

  • We also lost Dennis Hopper over the weekend.  The 74-year old lost his decade-long battle with prostate cancer at 9 a.m. on Saturday with family by his side.  source

  • Congrats to Celine Dion who announced she is pregnant with twins.  The 42-year old has not kept secret her desire to have more children.  She got pregnant after several in-vitro fertilization procedures, according to her publicist.  source

  • Shocker! Heidi Montag is moving away from husband Spencer Prat.  TMZ reports that she's sick of the way Spencer controls "all the fake bad press" and now "wants to focus on her acting career." source

  • Tiki Barber's estranged wife Ginny delivered healthy twin girls yesterday.  Of course, Tiki wasn't there after walking away from his 11-year marriage to be with a former NBC intern.  source

  • Rosie Huntington-Whitely, a 23-year old Victoria's Secret model, will take Megan Fox's place in Transformers 3.  Director Michael Bay worked with her during a commercial for the lingerie line last year.  picture and source article

  • Check out Lindsay Lohantrying to make her alcohol-monitoring bracelet look chic.

BOX OFFICE - Experts said the movie would bring in $60 million this weekend, but it barely made half that amount.  "Sex and the City 2", which was destroyed by critics, opened at #2 with $32.2 million.  That's far below the $56.8 million the first made two years ago.  "Shrek Forever After" held on to the #1 slot with a comfortable $43.3 million.

1 Shrek Forever After
2 Sex and the City 2
3 Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time ($30.2 million)

No really.  They are thinking of making another one:  Sex and the City 3 - from London.

FUN STUFF

GADGET OF THE DAY

If you've ever watched a kid eat a Ice Pop, you know what a disaster that can be.  That's why this little gadget was invented -- and I'm guessing it was thought up by a parent  that was sick of changing her child every time he ate an Ice Pop.  The Pop Pals Ice Pop holder attaches to the end of the Ice Pop, and then slowly pushes it up through the top with a press on the belly.  Nice.  $6.
