utah earthquake" - The largest earthquake for Utah in 75 years hit last night as earthquake season rumbles on. The 4.9 Richter Scale quake pushes the number of earthquakes to 27 for this year. It struck at 6pm about 77 miles from Salt Lake City. No injuries or major damage reported.

"sonja morgan" - Sonja Morgan joins the cast of "The Real Housewives of NYC." She says doing a reality show for a single mom is "kind of scary." There's no doubt she can handle the pressure. After all, she put herself through college, modeled in Europe, opened a restaurant, go married, had a baby, produced a movie and then produced an art show and tour. She'll be fine.
- Benjamin L. Hooks, NAACP leader and the first black member of the Federal Communications Commission, died yesterday. He was 85. Mr. Hooks took over the NAACP in 1977 when it was $1-million in debt. He moved the organization out of NYC and cut costs. Membership grew to several hundred thousand by the time he left in 1992. U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander said that Tennessee had lost its most distinguished resident: "Ben Hooks was a pioneer, preacher, storyteller, conciliator and visionary."

What sport drags on waaaay too long
The umpire for the Yankees/Red Sox game called the series a disgrace to baseball after the game lasted nearly four hours. Joe West is catching heat for even daring to criticize a Yankees/Red Sox match up. But is he right? Are baseball games dragging on way too long these days? Sure there are considerations like television that drag it out, but do batters need to call time out to adjust their jersey so much? Do we need 5 minutes to warm up a relief pitcher who just walked out to the mound? And how about shortening the break between pitches. Last season, big league pitchers averaged 27 seconds between pitches, even when the (never enforced) rule states they only get 12. Would it be better for the game if it only lasted 2 hours? What other sport drags on way too long? Is this any reason to worry about the up and coming generation, or is it a whole lot of nothing?
"If you could be famous for anything, what would you be famous for?" That was the question asked by a student newspaper at University High School in Spokane Valley, Washington, and the answers are ruffling some feathers. Here are a few of the answers:
- "Killing someone famous"
- "Mass murderer"
- "Having an affair with the president"
- "Dropping a nuke on the Middle East"
The Central Valley School District is looking into it but administrators say they don't read the school newspaper before it is printed. So what do you think? Is this just teenagers trying to look cool, or a very twisted sense of humor that needs to be addressed?

What's the strangest thing you ever found living in your home?
This is the reason I never go into my attic -- BOBCATS! A man in Phoenix climbed to the attic to grab his ice cream maker when he met the glowing eyes of a mama bobcat and her babies. "I heard a real low growl so I stopped what I was doing and climbed back down." Good plan. Mama and her babies have so far refused to leave, and since it'll cost $700 for removal, it looks like the attic is theirs.
