MOST "SEARCHED FOR" THIS MORNING

PITCHING FROM BEYOND THE GRAVE

Direct TV is feeling the heat for using a dead celebrity to promote its product (again).  This time it's Chris Farley from the 90's flick "Tommy Boy."  His co-star, David Spade, thinks the commercial is a cool way to remind people just how funny Chris was. Of course, Spade is the one getting paid.

Last year, the company used another dead celeb, Heather O'Rourke, the little girl in Poltergeist who died at the age of 12 from "mysterious circumstances.  What do you think, does it creep you out to see dead celebs push a product?  Speaking of, that Michael Jackson movie opens tomorrow...

WHAT DOES SHE LOOK LIKE?

Everyone is searching for a picture of the woman Steve Phillips from ESPN had an affair with.  Her name is Brooke Hundley, and she's now in the 'famous intern hall of fame' after sending Phillips' wife, Marni, a letter describing their relationship, including a description of a birth mark 'down there.'  Steve was fired.  Here she is:http://tinyurl.com/ygh2h87

CHEAP HALLOWEEN COSTUME IDEAS

Halloween lasts the entire weekend this year.  In fact, we get an extra hour of it because we fall back on Sunday morning.  So what are you going to be?  Here are some ideas straight from your closet from TheFrisky.com:

-- Got a trench coat?  Bam, you're a flasher!

-- Throw on a striped shirt, a beret, and burn a cigarette and you're French!

-- Steal your mom's unflattering jeans, throw on a sweatshirt and wear a little too much pink lipstick and you're a soccermom!

-- Wear all black with a scarf covering your head/mouth and you're a ninja.  Grab those nunchucks out of your car's glove compartment and you've just authenticated the costume.

-- Put on your coolest outfit along with a camera and laptop, and you're a fashion blogger.

-- What about you?  What's your best last second Halloween costume?

THE REASON:  LAPTOPS!

According to the NY Times, the Northwest pilots that overshot their destination by more than a 100 miles did so because they were on their laptops.  The National Transportation Safety Board released a report stating the two were distracted by a conversation over a new pilot scheduling system.  The first officer was explaining to the captain how to navigate through the new system.  The one thing they were not navigating was the airplane.  Taking out your laptops in the cockpit is a violation of company policy.  By the time a flight attendant called up to check on a landing time, the plane was still at 37-thousand feet and 100-miles past Minneapolis.  Investigators will next listen to the last 30-minutes of the flight data recorder to help determine what was going on.  (Why don't they just admit they were deep into planning a battle on World of Warcraft... then we'd understand!)

DOG!  NOT REALLY.

Police in Athens, GA, say a woman scared off a burglar Saturday night by acting like a dog.  When she heard someone trying to break into her front door, police say the woman got on the floor and began scratching and "acting like a large dog."  Whoever was trying to get in ran off.  (The woman then called police and wet the carpet)

E-CIGS

Interesting article in USA Today about the battle over electronic cigarettes.  E-cigarettes are battery powered and contain a cartridge packed with nicotine, flavoring and chemicals.  The nicotine is turned into a vapor and then inhaled.  A half-million Americans are using e-cigarettes which circumvent smoking bans across the U.S.  States are trying to ban them and the FDA is questioning the safety of the devices.  Some folks, on the other hand, are using them to quit.  A 46-year old smoker in Wildwood, Mo, says they're "almost a miracle," allowing her to kick a two-pack a day habit.  (I only smoke iCigs, which I download from the iPartyStore for 99 cents a pack... while I'm there, I also pick up a gallon of iMilk and iBread.  If I only had an iWife that would appreciate my efforts!)
