10.15.09:  QUESTION OF THE DAY

What is your best strategy to save a little time in your life?

Interesting article here from GoodHousekeeping.com with "18 Ways to Beat the Clock."  Here are a few...

--Store buttons in clear pill dispensers so you can easily spot the one you need.

--Schedule your next haircut before you leave the salon.

--Buy stamps, print labels, and arrange package pickups at usps.com

--Reserve books online instead of driving over to the library to do it in person. (You can renew books online too.)

--Keep note cards, envelopes, and stamps in a zip-top plastic bag in your purse so you can dash off a thank-you note while you're standing in line or waiting in the school parking lot.

--Use a Web grocer like Peapod. Once you set up an account and a shopping list of the items you buy often, placing an order takes only minutes

--Avoid movie lines. Buy tickets ahead of time from a service such as Fandango or Moviefone.

--Do all your banking online. (It's safe, really.)

--During TV commercials, don't just nosh, pay your bills (that is, if you don't already pay them online).

CELEBRITY TWEETS

It's official - almost.  Avril Lavigne has filed for divorce from Deryck Whibley, according to Us Weekly.  She's not requesting nor offering to pay spousal support.  The pair called it quits Sept. 17th.   http://tinyurl.com/yfl7kkk

Burger King and the Fox TV network are officially apologizing to Jessica Simpson for calling her "bigger than Flozell Adams."  The remark was part of an NFL Sunday skit.  Fox called it a "poor attempt at humor" and said Burger King had nothing to do with the bit.  Simpson's rep had no comment.

Britney Spears' new single, "3," will debut at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart making her the first aritst in three years to debut a single at #1.

Tweet this!  "Twilight" has an official Twitter account which teases fans with pictures and behind the scenes info on the upcoming "New Moon" flick.  The soundtrack, by the way, will be released tomorrow.

SNL alum Tracy Morgan slams his former costars in a new book coming out next week called "I Am the New Black."  "All I have to say about that is, where's Chris Kattan now? Where's Cheri Oteri now? That b*&ch can't even get arrested."  What a sweet, sweet man.

Leona Lewis is shaken but OK after a man punched her in the head during an autograph signing in London.   She was rushed to the doctor as a precaution.  The 29-year old, who waited 90 minutes before striking her, is in jail this morning.

Randy Jackson is predicting a female winner on this season's American Idol.  Male contestants have dominated the past two seasons, but Jackson says the edge goes to the ladies.   “We haven’t had a girl winner in a long time and some interesting talented girls showed up [to audition.]“

UPDATE:  Maria Shriver is sorry for driving her big 'ol SUV while chatting on her hand-held cell phone.  That's a no-no a California.  In fact, the hands-free law is something her husband, Gov. Arnold Shwarzenegger, signed into law.  TMZ posted the pictures the other day.  She said she's donating her cell phone to charity.

Captain Lou Albano, famous wrestler from the 70's and 80's, died Wednesday morning.  He was 76.  He was also the guy that starred in those Cyndi Lauper videos playing the role of her father.  The two apparently became friends after meeting on an airplane.  The connection between Albano and Lauper is what brought the "Rock and Wrestling" match to MTV, which made Mr. T, Hulk Hogan, and Roddy Piper mainstream celebrities.  Lou's funeral is planned for Saturday in Carmel, NY.
